The conceptual website was developed over the course of six weeks as part of the "Web Design and Development" course curriculum in the School of Interactive arts and Technology. The main goal was to develop a website for an abstract company and practice front development planning and implementation techniques ranging from audience research and branding to content development, information architecture, user experience design and code implementation using best practices.
The project consisted of two stages: the first stage involved selecting a conceptual company that the website will be developed for, researching its potential audience and their needs and beginning web design process through sketching, wireframing, and higher fidelity mockups. The second stage involved implementation using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, translating all branding elements into the code and developing a responsive layout that will serve multiple devices, such as TV, phone and tablet. Additionally, the course instructor requested that all development be synced through GitHub, thus helping us learn the latest web practices and standards when it comes to collaborative web development.
My conceptual company is selling outdoor clothing and bag products to its customers online, thus the overall design theme of the website features cool colors and sets an overall impression of the outdoors and a sense of adventure. The website offers easy navigation and product selection based on outdoor clothing and bag products category. For typical outdoor jacket clothing, a detailed description of the jacket is provided. Additionally, the site offers outdoor sports and hiking activity resources and helps its customers make informed decisions about product selection that will be the most beneficial for their type of outdoor sports and hiking activity. The website features a responsive web design and allows its customers to effortlessly transition from one device to another using a single URL link.
